CompactFlash® Replacement

The CompactFlash® in the control panel holds all the software required for the control panel to operate. The CompactFlash® can be replaced to install a new version of the operating system onto the control panel or if the CompactFlash® becomes corrupt.

Note:
The switcher stores the IP addresses of the frame and control panel, and the mapping of the control panel modules on the CompactFlash®. When you replace the CompactFlash®, the IP addresses of the frame and control panel, and the mapping of modules on the panel need to be set on the control panel again for it to be able to communicate with the frame and operate properly.

To Replace the CompactFlash®

Warning Hazardous Voltages: Hazardous voltages are present in this device as long as any of the power supplies are connected to the AC power.
ESD Susceptibility: Static discharge can cause serious damage to sensitive semiconductor devices. Avoid handling the switcher circuit boards in high static environments such as carpeted areas and when synthetic fiber clothing is worn. Touch the frame to dissipate static charge before removing boards from the frame and exercise proper grounding precautions when working on circuit boards.
  1. Navigate to the Network Setup menu (Press HOME > Setup > Network Setup) and record the network settings (IP address, subnet mask, and gateway) of both the control panel and the frame.
  2. Power off the control panel and disconnect both the primary and secondary power supplies from mains power.
  3. Disconnect the ethernet cable from the control panel.

    When the control panel boots up again with the new CompactFlash® it will be set to the default IP address and may try to connect to the wrong frame.

  4. Locate the access plate on the front of the Control Panel CPU and remove the two screws securing it in place.

  5. Remove the access plate.
  6. Push the ejector button to unseat the CompactFlash® and remove it from the slot.

  7. Slide the new CompactFlash® into the slot until the ejector button pops out again.
  8. Install the access plate back onto the front of the Control Panel CPU and reconnect the mains power to the control panel and power it on.
  9. Navigate back to the Network Setup menu (Press HOME > Setup > Network Setup) and enter the network settings of both the control panel and the frame that you recorded earlier.
  10. Reconnect the ethernet cable to the control panel.
  11. Navigate to the Panel Modules menu (Press HOME > Setup > More > Panel Modules) and map the panel modules to the control panel rows. More information on mapping modules to panel rows can be found in the setup manual.
