To Remove an SDxE Blade

To make room for the new SDxE blade, you must power off the frame and remove the old blades or blank plates from the slot.

The SDxE takes two slots in the Ultrix chassis. It is recommended that it is installed in the following slots:

  • Ultrix FR12 — Slot 8 or 9.
  • Ultrix FR5 — Flex and Slot 1.
CAUTION: Before your set up or operate your switcher, see the "Important Safety Instructions" in your manual.
Important: Blades in the Ultrix chassis are not hot-swappable. You must power off the frame and the SDxE blade before attempting to remove the blade. Failure to power off the frame could result in damage to the equipment.
  1. Power off the Ultrix chassis according to the instructions that came with your Ultrix Acuity and unplug all the power cables.
CAUTION: The SDxE blade has two separate power connector on the faceplate. You must unplug the power cables from the SDxE blade before removing the blade from the frame. Failure to do so could result in injury.
Warning Hazardous Voltages: Hazardous voltages are present in this device as long as any of the power supplies are connected to the AC power.
  2. Locate the slots for the SDxE blade you want to remove.
  3. Label and remove any cables connected to the blade you will be removing. There are no usable video input or output BNCs on the SDxE blade. If you are removing an Ultrix HDBNC IO blade, you will have to connect these cables to different blades and update the router matrix accordingly.
  4. Fully loosen the retaining screws at either end of the blade or blank plates that you are removing.

  5. Using the supplied tool, loosen the middle retaining bolt. The bolt is fixed to the faceplate and will help to extract the blade from the slot.
Important: Ensure that the middle retaining bolt is fully unfastened before attempting to remove the blade.

  6. Grasp the blade by both ends and gently pull the blade out of the chassis.
