Split Keys

A Split key allows you to assign a different alpha source for a key than the alpha/fill associations that are set up during installation, or the alpha sources that are selected by the key type. Split Keys are typically used for creative montages and for keying moving video inside key shapes.

Keep the following in mind when working with split keys:

  • Split Auto Select key assignments are temporary and will revert back to the original setup if any other fill source is selected, unless stored in a memory.
  • Split Self key assignments persist if you select a different fill source and KEY MEM is off. You must select a different key type or press SELF key again to clear the split key assignment.
