Studer® OnAir 2500 / Vista

This setup information applies to the Studer® OnAir 2500 and Vista.

Cable Connections

The OnAir 2500 connects to the switcher over an RS-232 serial connection to a DB9 port on the switcher and a DB9 port on the device.

The Vista connects to the switcher over a standard ethernet connection.

Switcher Setup

The switcher must be set up to communicate with the audio mixer using either serial or ethernet protocols, as well as associate the audio channels on the mixer with video sources coming into the switcher.

To Set Up Serial Communications

This information applies to OnAir 2500.

  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
  2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the remote port that you want to set up for the device.
  3. Use the Device knob to select Audio Mixer.
  4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select Studer.
  5. Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select RS-422.
  6. Press Com Settings and use the Baud and Parity knobs to select 38400 (Baud) and NONE (Parity).
  7. Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device parameters.

To Set Up Ethernet Communications

This information applies to the Vista.

  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
  2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the net port that you want to set up for the device.
  3. Use the Device knob to select Audio Mixer.
  4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select RAP.
  5. Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select Network TCP.
  6. Press Com Settings and use the Client/Server knob to select Client and enter the IP Settings.

To Set Up a Video Input

Tip: Refer to your switcher Setup manual for information on setting up audio groups.
  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Source Configuration > Audio.
  2. Use the Input knob to select the input source that you want to assign an audio channel or group to.
  3. Use the Audio X knob to select the audio channel, or group, that you want to assign to the selected source. You can assign up to two channels or groups.
  4. Press HOME > Confirm.

Device Setup

The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use.

To Set Up Serial Communication for the OnAir 2500

The OnAir 2500 can have a variable number of input channels and has two program output channels. You must specify the number of input channels on your audio mixer as well as which output channel you wish to control with your switcher.

To Set Up Ethernet Communication for the Vista

The Vista must be set up for TCP communications on port 8087.
