Axia® Element®

This setup information applies to the Element® audio console connected to a PowerStation® and a server running the PathfinderPC software.

Cable Connections

The device connects to the switcher over standard ethernet.

Switcher Setup

The switcher must be set up to communicate with the audio mixer using either serial or ethernet protocols, as well as associate the audio channels on the mixer with video sources coming into the switcher.

To Set Up Communications

  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
  2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the net port that you want to set up for the device.
  3. Use the Device knob to select Audio Mixer.
  4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select RAP.
  5. Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select Network TCP.
  6. Press Com Settings and use the Client/Server knob to select Server and enter the IP Settings.

  7. Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device parameters.

  8. Press HOME > Confirm.

To Set Up a Video Input

Tip: Refer to your switcher Setup manual for information on setting up audio groups.
  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Source Configuration > Audio.
  2. Use the Input knob to select the input source that you want to assign an audio channel or group to.
  3. Use the Audio X knob to select the audio channel, or group, that you want to assign to the selected source. You can assign up to two channels or groups.
  4. Press HOME > Confirm.

Device Setup

The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use.

To Set Up Ethernet Communication

You must set up the PathfinderPC software on the server to communicate with the switcher.

  1. On the PathfinderPC application, click the Protocol Translator tab.
  2. Click Add Translator.
  3. In the Protocol list, click Ross Overdrive.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click TCP/IP Client.
  6. In the Connect To IP Address field, enter the IP address of the switcher.
  7. In the Connect To Port field, enter the value from the Local IP Port on the switcher.
  8. Click Next.
  9. In the Select console to control list, click the Element you want to control from the switcher.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Enter a name and description for this translator connection.
  12. Click Always run this translator.
  13. In the Startup State list, click Enabled.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. Restart the PathfinderPC software.
