Lawo

This setup information applies to the Lawo mc236 series and mc256 series of audio consoles, as well as the Ember+ protocol.

Cable Connections

The device connects to the switcher over standard ethernet.

Switcher Setup

The switcher must be set up to communicate with the audio mixer using either serial or ethernet protocols, as well as associate the audio channels on the mixer with video sources coming into the switcher.

To Set Up Communications

  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
  2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the net port that you want to set up for the device.
  3. Use the Device knob to select Audio Mixer.
  4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select the protocol for your device.
    • mc236 — select RAP.
    • mc256 — select LawoEmber+
  5. Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select Network TCP.
  6. Press Com Settings and use the Client/Server knob to select Client and enter the IP Settings.

  7. Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device parameters.

  8. Press HOME > Confirm.

To Set Up a Video Input

Tip: Refer to your switcher Setup manual for information on setting up audio groups.
  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Source Configuration > Audio.
  2. Use the Input knob to select the input source that you want to assign an audio channel or group to.
  3. Use the Audio X knob to select the audio channel, or group, that you want to assign to the selected source. You can assign up to two channels or groups.
  4. Press More > More > Lawo Mapping.
  5. Use the Audio Channel knob to select the audio channel id on the switcher that you want to assign to a channel on the Lawo.
  6. Use the Channel Type knob to select what type the channel on the Lawo is.
    • Input — audio input
    • Group — audio group
    • Aux — audio aux
    • VCA — audio voltage controlled amplifier
  7. Use the Channel Index knob to select the id of the channel on the Lawo that you want to assign to the selected audio channel on the switcher.
    Tip: As the switcher receives the channel data from the Lawo, the channel names on the switcher will change to match those on the Lawo.
  8. Press HOME > Confirm.

Device Setup

The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use.

Lawo Setup

Keep the following in mind when controlling the Lawo audio mixer from the switcher:

  • Ember+ VCA Setup — Voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) channels supported by the Ember+ device are added to the end of the inputs list for the mixer.
  • Snapshots — The switcher can recall up to 200 snapshots on the Lawo audio mixer.
