AMP Protocol
The information in this document applies to video servers using the AMP protocol.
Cable Connections
The video server using the AMP protocol connects to the switcher over ethernet.
Switcher Communication Setup
The switcher must be set up to communicate with the video server using AMP.
To Set Up Ethernet Communications
- Press MENU > SYSTEM > NEXT > NEXT > Device Config
- Press Add and use the Slot knob to select an ethernet connection (Slot #).
- Use the Type knob to select Server.
- Press NEXT.
- Use the SubType knob to select AMP.
- Press NEXT.
- Use the Field knob to select the segment of the IP address you want to edit and the Value knob to select the number.
- Press NEXT.

Use the Option and Value knobs to complete the
setup.
Option Value Port Select the port that you want to use to communicate with the video server. Port 3811 is used by default by most AMP devices. PreRoll Set the number of the frames that switcher waits after sending the play command to a video server before taking the source on-air. EjtClp Select whether the Eject Clip is sent to the video server before a clip is cued (On) or if the Eject Clip command is not sent (Off). - Press the Option knob and Confirm to add the device.
Switcher Video Setup
The switcher must be set up to associate the video server controls with the video source coming into the switcher. When you select the source coming from the video server on a bus, the menu jumps to the clip controls for that video server.
To Assign a Video Server to a Video Input
- Press MENU > CONFIG > Input > NEXT.
- Use the Input knob to select the input BNC that is connected to the video server.
- Press the Device knob.
- Use the Device knob to select the video server you set up for the input BNC.
- Press NEXT.

Use the Option and Value knobs to complete the
setup.
Option Value Channel Select the channel on the video server that you want to control. - Press the Option knob and Confirm to add the device.

The video server must be set up to connect to the switcher on port 3811.
