Vizrt®
This setup information applies to the Vizrt®.
Cable Connections
The device connects to the switcher over either an RS-232 serial connection to a remote port on the frame or a standard ethernet connection.

Switcher Setup
The switcher must be set up to communicate with the CG using either serial or ethernet protocols, as well as associate the video inputs that are coming into the switcher from the CG with the channel on the device that they are coming from.
To Set Up Serial Communications
- Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
- Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the remote port that you want to set up for the device.
- Use the Device knob to select CG.
- Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select RAP.
- Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select RS-232.
- Press Com Settings and use the Baud and Parity knobs to select 9600 (Baud) and NONE (Parity).

Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device
parameters.
Option Value Software Ver Select the version of PepTalk that you are using. Def Chan Name Select whether to use default channel or input BNC names. - Press HOME > Confirm.
To Set Up Ethernet Communications
- Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
- Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the net port that you want to set up for the device.
- Use the Device knob to select CG.
- Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select Vizrt.
- Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select Network TCP.

Press Com Settings and use the Client/Server knob to select Client and enter the IP
Settings.

Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device
parameters.

To Set Up a Video Input
In addition to the video/fill input coming from the CG, you must also set up the alpha input and associate it with the video/fill. Refer to your Acuity™ Setup manual for more information.
- Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Source Configuration > Input Type.
- Use the Input knob to select the input video/fill source that is coming from the CG.
- In the Input Type area, select Char Gen.
- Press More > More.

Press CG Setup and use the CG and Channel knobs to
select the device that the video signal is coming from.
- CG — select the device that the video signal is coming from.
- Channel — select the channel on the device that the video signal is coming from.
- Press HOME > Confirm.
Device Setup
The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use.
To Set Up Serial Communication
- Ensure the Vizrt is set up.
- In the Vizrt software, navigate to the Configuration Menu.
- From the Configuration Menu, select External Interfaces.
- Select the Intelligent Interface tab.

Set the communication settings as follows:
- Com Port - Select the Com Port on the Viz Trio Client system that is connected to the control panel.
- Baud Rate - Select 9600 for the baud rate.
- Show Path - Select the folder the switcher will load from the Remote Control menu.
- Save your changes.
To Set Up Ethernet Communication
- Ensure that the Vizrt is set up.
- Label the channels on the Vizrt Viz1 to Viz16.
OverDrive® Setup
An ethernet connection to the device is required for direct control from OverDrive®.
To Set Up OverDrive® for MOS
- On the OverDrive® server, open the Device Template Editor.
- Click on the Device tab.
- In the Device Name field, enter a name for your CG.
- In the Device Type area, select MOS Char Gen.

In the MOS Character Generator Properties area, select the following.
- MOS CG Type — Vizrt
- mosID Name — pilot (or the name chosen by Vizrt)
- Channel ID — itemChannel
- Channel Name — 1 to 16
- Folder Base — MOS
- In the Device Crosspoints area enter the video input on the switcher that the video, or fill, source from the CG is connected to.
To Set Up OverDrive® Without MOS
- On the OverDrive® server, open the Device Template Editor.
- Click on the Device tab.
- In the Device Name field, enter a name for your CG.
- In the Device Type area, select Character Gen.
- In the Character Generator Properties area, enter the name of the TRIO show in the Default page folder location field.
- In the Device Crosspoints area enter the video input on the switcher that the video, or fill, source from the CG is connected to.
Custom Controls
Keep the following in mind when using custom controls:
- Init — speeds up the rendering of templates.
- Init Clr — removes all templates from the rendering engine.
- Set Folder — must be set to MOS for a MOS show. If you are using a TRIO show, the folder must be set first in the custom control and then loaded to program.
