To Replace the Media Drive
The media drive in the server can be replaced. This is useful for increasing the amount of storage, replacing a failed drive, or moving your media library from one server to another.
Note: You can only have a single media drive in the server at a time. If you want to use multiple SSDs in the server as
the media drive, you must set them up as a raid array.
- Power off the server and disconnect the power cords from the mains power.
-
Locate the media drive at the front of the server.
- Slide the silver tabs on the drive doors to the right to unlock the doors.
-
Pull the bay doors open and remove the drives.
esd: Static discharge can cause serious damage to sensitive semiconductor devices. Avoid handling the server components in high static environments such as carpeted areas and when synthetic fiber clothing is worn. Touch the frame to dissipate static charge before removing boards or drives from the chassis and exercise proper grounding precautions when working on circuit boards.
- With the connectors facing the server, slide the new drives into the slots in the server.
- Push the bay doors closed to secure the drives in the server.
With the new media drive installed you can reconnect power to the server and turn it on. Use the Disk Management utility in Windows® to format the new drive (if required) and assign it drive letter H. A folder named Video must be located at the root directory of the media drive.
