System Monitor

Procedures

Use this panel to view the current state of a Streamline Server and monitor the users connected to the Streamline Server.

Monitors

Use this tab to create and manage user defined system health monitors. This tab contains the following pages:

System Monitor Management

Use this page to view the list of available production cues and to add, edit, enable, or delete production cues.

Icon — this column displays an icon that identifies the monitor.

Name — this column displays the monitor name as displayed in the System Health tree view.

Interval — this column displays the amount of time that a monitor waits between checks.

Description — this column displays a description of monitor task.

Add — click this button to create a new user defined monitor. Opens the Create New System Monitor page.

Edit — click this button to edit the definition of the selected monitor. Depending on the type of monitor you select to edit, the Edit Disk Usage Monitor or Edit Internet Connectivity Monitor page opens.

Delete — click this button to delete the selected monitor. Deleting a monitor removes it from the Production Cues list and the System Health tree view.

Create New System Monitor

Use this page to select the type of monitor to create.

Monitor use this list to select the type of monitor to create. The available monitor types are as follows:

Disk Usage Monitor — check a selected hard drive to make sure that the available storage does not fall below a set level.

Internet Connectivity Monitor — check that there is connectivity between the Streamline Server and a selected web site.

Back — click this button to return to the System Monitor Management page.

Next — click this button to create the selected type of monitor. Depending on the type of monitor you are creating, the Add a Disk Usage Monitor or Add an Internet Connectivity Monitor page.

Add a Disk Usage Monitor

Use the settings on this page to define a disk usage monitor.

Name — enter in this box a name for the monitor.

Interval — enter in this box the amount of time to wait between checks of available hard disk space.

Use the list to the right of the Interval box to select Minute(s) or Second(s) as the time unit for the time entered in the Interval box.

Drive — use this list to select the Streamline Server computer hard drive to monitor.

Minimum Free Space — enter in this box the minimum amount of disk space that the selected Drive must contain. The monitor reports an Error when the available space on a Drive drops below the set minimum disk space.

Use the list to the right of the Minimum Free Space box to select Gigabyte(s) or Megabyte(s) as the disk space unit for the amount entered in the Minimum Free Space After box.

Back — click this button to return to the System Monitor Management page.

Save — click this button to save the monitor.

Add an Internet Connectivity Monitor

Use the setting on this page to define an internet connectivity monitor.

Name — enter in this box a name for the monitor.

Interval — enter in this box the amount of time to wait between connectivity checks with a web site.

Use the list to the right of the Interval box to select Minute(s) or Second(s) as the time unit for the time entered in the Interval box.

URL — enter in this box the web address (for example: http://www.rossvideo.com) of the web site that you want to check connectivity with the Streamline Server.

Back — click this button to return to the System Monitor Management page.

Save — click this button to save the monitor.

Edit Disk Usage Monitor

Use this page to edit the settings for the selected disk usage monitor.

Name — enter in this box a name for the monitor.

Interval — enter in this box the amount of time to wait between checks of available hard disk space.

Use the list to the right of the Interval box to select Minute(s) or Second(s) as the time unit for the time entered in the Interval box.

Drive — use this list to select the Streamline Server computer hard drive to monitor.

Minimum Free Space — enter in this box the minimum amount of disk space that the selected Drive must contain. The monitor reports an Error when the available space on a Drive drops below the set minimum disk space.

Edit Internet Connectivity Monitor

Use this page to edit the settings for the selected internet connectivity monitor.

Name — enter in this box a name for the monitor.

Interval — enter in this box the amount of time to wait between connectivity checks with a web site.

Use the list to the right of the Interval box to select Minute(s) or Second(s) as the time unit for the time entered in the Interval box.

URL — enter in this box the web address (for example: http://www.rossvideo.com) of the web site that you want to check connectivity with the Streamline Server.

Back — click this button to return to the System Monitor Management page.

Save — click this button to save your changes.
