Procedures

Use this panel to monitor and manage Twitter feeds. You can also select feed items to drag into playlists, and create new stories.

One-Time Search

Use the Search Twitter panel to perform One-Time searches on Twitter. One-Time Twitter searches are deleted from Inception after 36 hours of inactivity. Before a One-Time search is deleted, it can be save as a Searched-Based Twitter feed.

Recent Searches — use this menu to open in the Twitter Feed Viewer a recent One-Time Twit­ter search created by any user on the Inception system. This menu is only availble when you edit a One-Time Twitter search.

My Searches — use this menu to open in the Twitter Feed Viewer a previous One-Time Twitter search that you created. This menu is only availble when you edit a One-Time Twitter search.

Search Query — enter in this box terms or hash tags with which to search for tweets.

The following table shows valid search terms and operators for Twitter searches.

Language — use this list to select the language of the tweets to include in the search results.

Include Retweets — select this check box to include retweets in the search results.

Enable GeoTargeting — select this check box to use geotargeting to limit the geographic region in which to search for tweets. Selecting this check box also makes the Location, Latitude, Longitude, and Radius boxes available.

Location — enter in this box the name of the location to center your One-Time Twitter search.

Lookup — click this button lookup the latitude and longitude values of the entered location and load the values in the Latitude and Longitude boxes.

Latitude and Longitude do not change when the entered location is not recognized by Inception.

Latitude — view or enter the latitude value in decimal degrees of the One-Time Twitter search location. The valid range is -90.00000000 to 90.00000000 degrees, where negative values are South of the equator and positive values are North of the equator.

Longitude — view or enter the longitude value in decimal degrees of the One-Time Twitter search location. The valid range is -180.00000000 to 180.00000000 degrees, where negative values are West of the Prime Meridian (Greenwich Meridian) and positive values are East of the Prime Meridian.

Radius — enter in this box the radius of the area around the selected location to search for tweets.

Units — use this list to select the measurement unit (miles or kilometers) for the entered radius.

Search — click this icon to perform the defined One-Time Twitter search. The search results are displayed in the One-Time Search Results panel.
