Evertz®

This setup information applies to the Evertz® 7700PTX-CTP Translator (MVP®/VIP).

Cable Connections

The device connects to the switcher over an RS-422 serial connection to a DB9 port on the switcher and a terminal block on the device.

The indicated pinouts are for Port 1 on the RS-232/422 DATA. Refer to the 7700PTX-CTP documentation for pinouts for the remaining ports.

Switcher Setup

The switcher must be set up to communicate with the serial tally device using either serial or ethernet protocols.

To Set Up Communications

  1. Press HOME > Setup > Installation > Com Setup
  2. Press Type and use the Com Port knob to select the remote port that you want to set up for the device.
  3. Use the Device knob to select Serial Tally.
  4. Press Select Device and use the Device knob to select Contrib.
  5. Press Com Type and use the Type knob to select RS-422.
  6. Press Com Settings and use the Baud and Parity knobs to select 115200 (Baud) and NONE (Parity).
  7. Press Extra Options and use the Option and Value knobs to set the device parameters.

  8. Press HOME > Confirm.

Device Setup

The device must be set up to communicate with the switcher using the same serial or ethernet communications as you set the switcher up to use.

Note: This information in this procedure is provided as a guide and is based on the current version of hardware and software that was available at the time of testing. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, refer to the documentation that came with your device.

To Set Up Serial Communication

  1. The Evertz® 7700PTX-CTP Translator must be set up to communicate with the Evertz® VIP over TCP/IP.
  2. Connect a computer to the 7700PTX-CTP using the Evertz® supplied serial cable via the 4-pin UPGRADE connector.
  3. Use PuTTy (or HyperTerminal) to connect to the 7700PTX-CTP at 115200 Baud.
  4. From the Main Menu of the 7700PTX-CTP, press (1) Network Configuration.
  5. Enter the required IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.
  6. Press (S) Save and Exit.
  7. From the Main Menu of the 7700PTX-CTP, select (2) Serial Port Setup.
  8. For the serial Port that is connected to the switcher, select the following parameters:
    • Baud Rate — 115200
    • Data Bits — 8
    • Parity — NONE
    • Stop Bits — 1
    • Standard — RS-422
  9. Press (S) Save and Exit.
  10. From the Main Menu of the 7700PTX-CTP, select (3) Contribution Tally Protocol Settings Setup.
  11. Select the following parameters:
    • VGPI Image Video Dsp Id — 500
    • VGPI Refresh Count — 750
    • Program Output Number — 5
    • Program VGPI Offset — 0
    • Tx Program UMD — n
    • Program UMD Dsp Id — 129
    • Preview Output Number — 6
    • Preview VGPI Offset — 100
    • Tx Preview UMD — n
    • Preview UMD Dsp Id — 130
    • Tx Source Names — y
    • Src Names Refresh Count — 750
    • Src Names Dsp Id Offset — 0
    • Include Non-Physical Sources with VPGIs and Source Names — n
  12. Press (S) Save and Exit.
  13. From the Main Menu of the 7700PTX-CTP, select (4) Under Monitor Display Peer Setup.
  14. Select UMD Peer Setup via Ethernet 1.
  15. Enter the IP Address and TCP Port for the MVP®/VIP that the 7700PTX-CTP is connecting to.
  16. Press (S) Save and Exit.
  17. Restart the 7700PTX-CTP to apply the settings.

MVP®/VIP Setup

The MVP Maestro application must be configured so that the UMD Labels and Tally indicators are set for Protocol Id, and the correct PID or VGPI is used.
