New / Edit Playlist

Procedures

Use this dialog box to create a new playlist or edit existing playlist settings.

Outputs

Use this tab to define a changeable virtual ID for a playlist, which enables you to match the playlist RSS feed URL to the URL used by an external application or system to access playlist content. For example, Datalinqs in a Ross Video XPression real-time motion graphics system use playlist RSS feed URLs to access playlist content. By changing playlist virtual IDs, you can switch the playlist accessed by an XPression Datalinq without editing the RSS feed URL used by the Datalinq.

Direct RSS Feed — this box displays the Direct RSS Feed URL for the playlist, which external applications or systems can use to access playlist content. This URL is based on a fixed ID, which you cannot change.

Edit_Playlist_-_Outputs_-_View.png — click this icon to open an RSS reader to view the content that Inception outputs through the Direct RSS Feed URL. When the playlist is online, this URL outputs the approved playlist items contained in the playlist. Most web browsers have a built-in RSS feed reader. If you use Google Chrome to access Inception, you may need to install an RSS feed reader plugin.

Copy — click the URL in the Direct RSS Feed box to select it, and then Press Ctrl C to copy the URL to the clipboard on your computer. You can paste the URL into external applications to enable the applications to access the playlist content.

Virtual RSS Feed — this box displays the Virtual RSS Feed URL for the playlist, which external applications or systems can use to access playlist content. This URL is based on the changeable virtual ID set for the playlist. This field is only available when the User Virtual ID check box is selected.

Edit_Playlist_-_Outputs_-_View00001.png — click this icon to open an RSS reader to view the content that Inception outputs through the Virtual RSS Feed URL. When the playlist is online, this URL outputs the approved playlist items contained in the playlist. Most web browsers have a built-in RSS feed reader. If you use Google Chrome to access Inception, you may need to install an RSS feed reader plugin.

Copy — click the URL in the Virtual RSS Feed box to select it, and then Press Ctrl C to copy the URL to the clipboard on your computer. You can paste the URL into external applications to enable the applications to access the playlist content.

Use Virtual ID — select this check box to use a virtual ID to output playlist content through a Virtual RSS Feed URL along with the Direct RSS Feed URL.

Existing IDs — use this list to select an existing virtual ID with which to create the Virtual RSS Feed URL for the new playlist. This list is only available when the User Virtual ID check box is selected.

Inception automatically enters the selected virtual ID in the Virtual ID box.

Selecting an existing virtual ID that is currently assigned to another playlist removes the virtual ID from the playlist and assigns it to the new playlist. The existing playlist no longer outputs content through a Virtual RSS Feed URL, but it continues to output content through its Direct RSS Feed URL.

Virtual ID — enter in this box a new virtual ID with which to create the Virtual RSS Feed URL for the new playlist. This box is only available when the User Virtual ID check box is selected.

Cancel — click this button to cancel the creation of a new playlist or the update of an existing playlist.

OK — click this button to create the new playlist or apply updates to an existing playlist.
